Melanie Harris - Director

Melanie is the visionary behind the creation of the The Performance Tree, and is its leading director. Coming from a German-English family, she has aspired to an international outlook and involves herself in activities in different parts of the globe. Qualified in marketing after taking an honours degree in Biological sciences at Edinburgh University, she studied international trade, hypnotherapy, psychotherapy and training. She is committed to social enterprise and encourages all directors and associates of The Performance Tree to support such ventures with time and expertise. Mel has worked for Scottish Executive sponsored projects and continues to be associated with Scottish Business in the Community and First Port.

Mel has spent 12 years in marketing and business development of SMEs ranging across restaurants, associations, manufacturing, document and information management and storage, water purification, self build and Scottish Enterprise programmes for the training and recruitment of long term unemployed and Job coaches.  Mel has also spent 10 years training young people.

Mel is an ardent member of Junior Chamber International, taking her local organisation to a world award as Best Chamber in 2005. She has just completed her year as National President of JCI Scotland, which took her to various parts of the world to interact with members from more than 100 countries.. An accomplished speaker, Mel has delivered speeches and presentations in many countries.
